Architecture, as I see it, is first a craft and only then an art. I design buildings that stand in firm dialogue with their place, endure the weight of time, and hold together in the detail. I approach every project comprehensively — from the first idea, through full project preparation and engineering, to site supervision and occupancy approval.

I studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, specialising in industrial and engineering structures. After graduating I worked in design and architectural studios in Bratislava and Trenčín, where from the outset I took on a wide range of briefs — civic and administrative buildings, industrial projects, and interiors. In 2005 I was entered on the register of authorised architects of the Slovak Chamber of Architects (1458 AA), and in the same year I founded my own studio, mfm architects.

Practice has led me to the conviction that the quality of architecture stands or falls on the link between design and construction. That is why I now deliver complete services from a single hand — from the architectural study through every stage of project documentation, engineering coordination, selection of contractors, and site supervision, to investor supervision and final occupancy approval. I specialise in particular in reconstructions of historic and heritage-listed buildings, where comprehensive coordination across every discipline is decisive, and in projects where the client is looking for a single partner for the whole process.

    Craft

    I consider architecture first and foremost a craft.

    Quality of detail, the logic of construction, and the sensible use of materials decide whether a building holds up not only in a photograph but after years of use. Every project is subordinated to this craftsmanlike foundation, regardless of its scale.

    Respect

    Good architecture is not born of an authoritative gesture but of attentive listening — to the site, the client, the context, and the people working on the project.

    Respect for a place that already carries its own memory. Respect for the client, for their budget, and for the life that will unfold inside the building. Respect for the trades and craftsmen whose work I bring together into a single whole. From reconstructions of historic buildings I have learned that humility before what already exists is the strongest creative tool an architect has. I bring this approach into every project today.

    Journey

    The destination is the journey.

    For me a project is not a document but a process. I deliver a complete service to the client — from the first idea through every stage of design, engineering, and site coordination, to final occupancy approval — and not infrequently beyond hand-over, because long-term responsibility for the work is something I take for granted. This way of working requires time, which is why I choose projects with care.
